Josiah Odell - Sarah Whitehead NJ-NY-IL

This listing is a companion site to my Jesse Heustis - NY To IL contribution. This Odell family accompanied the Heustis family from Orange County, NY to Fayette County, IL around 1856. Josiah's and Sarah's son Hezekiah married Margaret Heustis in June, 1854, and cemented a relationship that may have grown after years of living in the same town in NY.

However, Josiah, his (first) wife Sarah Whitehead, and their first three children (at least) were born in New Jersey. After 1830 they are found in NY; however child six, daughter Sarah, apparently was born in New Jersey in 1837 as well. There is no suitable explanantion for this fact at his time.

Please note that current generations of this family use the O'Dell spelling for this surname. For generations Odell was the norm, and no offense is intended by this alternate spelling.
