r Families of Hancock County, Maine

"Elizabeth Carroll Wescott was born in Blue Hill, Maine Aug 2, 1918, an
d resides presently in Bucksport after a career in lirrarianship. [She died in 2001.] She graduated from George Stevens Academy and earned degrees from Colby College and Simmons College, following which she was a reference librarian at Simmons College of Library Science, Pennsylvania State University and Brown University. After retiring and returning to Blue Hill and later moving to Bucksport, ME, Miss Wescott became interested in genealogy and has aquired considerable data relative to the early families of Blue Hill, Penobscot, Sedgwick, Castine, Brooklin, Surry, and many other towns. Through correspondence, Beth became involved in expanding her Grindle research and joined Capt. Almon Gray, Mr. Walter A. Snow, and Mr. David Grindle as co-compiler of "The Grindle Family of Hancock County, Maine." As a genealogist interested in numerous families, she spent many hours of research and corresponded with many people, sharing her data most generously with Mr. Carter and Mr. Snow. Without her contributions this publication would not have been possible." (1992)
