Text:
Custom Field:<_FA#> 1880Baptised as Louise Tutty April 25, 1880. Illegitimate daughter of Emma Tutty. REFN: 53 Louisa Tutty worked at a college in England where she met a young German student and became close friends. Was this the father of her first child Emma Tuuty?
Louisa Harris then worked for James ErnestHarris Jr., and helped with his three children and his sick wife. Ernest was wealthy and well educated and fluent in several languages. However, his wealth was all but lost in the stock market crash in the early years before WW1. Ernest had seven thousand dollars left and was told the it was enough to be wealthy in Canada "as the streets were paved with gold". When his wife, Jane Waldron Harris died, Louisa needed a husband and a father for Robert and Ernest needed someone to be a mother to his children. They were married prior to leaving England for Canada.
Louisa believed the stories of the gold paved street of Canada and was heartbroken when they arrived and saw only trees.
They lived in a large white house next to a gully in Barkers Point, New Brunswick, Canada and then in a small house in McCoy settlement.
The railroad was laying new tracks in Minto and had a lot of immigrants working there. Ernest was hired because of his ability to speak different languages. This job left Louisa alone with the children.
She spoke of the times being very tough and depended on her neighbors for help. Following this they moved to a house on Greenwood Dr. in Barkers Point. Ernest died of a heart attack while putting tar on a roof. It was very hot and when he came down from the roof he went into the house and collapsed. Louisa had to run down the road for help. This was the memories of JudithHarris Randall.
Note: It is unclear as to who Robert John Harris's biological father is. Was it James Ernest Harris or someone else? An attempt to find Robert's Birth certificate was unsuccessful at the time.
The Ring Memories of Judy Harris Randal When the German pilot known as the "Red Baron" was shot down, the people of England celebrated by having rings made from the aluminum propeller of the plane. I have one of the rings which was given to me by my father.
