Individual:
Thomas (Damase) Myottee aka Mailhot. The obituary was taken from the Bayliss Library at Sauly Ste. Marie MI in the May 15, 1913 Evening News microfiche.
OBITUARY - OBITUARY FROM SOO EVENING NEWS
Thomas Myotte, age 83, died yesterday morning after a long illness at his home, 948 Cedar Street. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church and interment will be in
Riverside Cemetery.
The death of Mr. Myotte is the passing of another old resident who has made the Sault his home
for the past 42 years. The death of Mrs. Myotte occurred in February 1912. Mr. Myotte is survived by eight children - three daughters, Mrs. Lewis Marble of the Sault, Mrs. Mary Leask of Sugar Island and Mrs. Rose Hassett of California; and five sons, Peter, Samuel, Gustave, Lewis, and James.
In the history of Sugar Island we find that the Myottes came to the Island in 1869. The Myottes are listed as one of the early families to the Island.
We believe the name Thomas was born with was the French pronunciation, DAMASE.
Buried in Myotte lot in sec. 8 in Riverside Cemetery - Catholic side - no head stone for him
