Mrs. Selina Myottee, wife of Thomas Myottee, died at the family home at 984 Cedar Street at 6:45 last evening of dropsy at the age of 76 years. The funeral will take place at the St. Mary's church tomarrow morning at 9 o'clock, the cortege leaving the home at 9:30. The interment will be in the family lot at Riverside.
The deceased was one of the oldest pioneers of the county, having been a continuous resident for a period of 42 years. She was born in Canada of old French-Canadian stock, her ancestors being prominent and influential residents of France during the Napoleon regime. She was a women of much force of character, highly esteemed and beloved by all who knew her and leaves a circle of friends
that extends over the entire county.
She was married to Thomas Myotte 56 years ago. The couple came to the Sault in 1869, when the town was little more than a hamlet. After a residence here of a short time they moved to Sugar Island where they hewed out a farm in the forest and wich they resided for 28 years when they returned to the Soo to live their declining years.
The deceased is survived by a hisband, 82 years of age, but still hale and hearty; eight children all married; therty five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. The children are Mrs. J.H. Hassett, Santa Monica, Cal., Mrs Louis Marble, Rosedale, Mrs Paul Leask, Sugar Island, James, Samuel, and Gustav, city; Peter, Hay Lake, and Louis of Sugar Island. She was born with the French spelling of her name CELINA.
