Individual:
REBECCA was born REBECCA PACK not SHEETS as was earlier thought. Thanks to research notes kindly shared by Faye Moran and Bill Allnutt, I discovered that REBECCA's second marriage was to g-g-g-grandfather, JOSEPH ARMSWORTHY. Her first marriage March 27, 1804 was to JOHN SHEETS, also of ROWAN COUNTY, NC. He died in 1810, leaving her with two young children, who were still with her when she married JOSEPH ARMSWORTHY in 1818.
The children of this marriage were ANDREW SHEETS, GEORGE ABRAHAM SHEETS and JOHN SHEETS, Jr. who married POLLY WYATT, October 13, 1828, WILKES COUNTY, NC. The will of JOHN SHEETS in 1810 names his wife, REBECCA, and two children, WILLIAM and GEORGE. JACOB SHEETS witnessed the will. This will does not mention ANDREW SHEETS named above.
JOHN SHEETS -- ROWAN COUNTY wills, minutes G:159, 20 Mar 1810, Probate 1810. Wife REBECCA to have use of the plantation and tools and a third of the estate. Sons WILLIAM and GEORGE, who are under age, are to be schooled and to divide the land. Exrs. AZARIAH PACK and his wife, REBECCA. Witnesses: JOHN STINCHCOMB and JACOB SHEETS. (Info. Renate Glade, UT)
