!MILITARY SERVICE: At the time of his death at Vicksburg, George W. Blackstock was a 4th Sgt. in Co. E, 56th Reg. Georgia Archives data shows that he enlisted for a three-year period; "was wounded in the trenches" at Vicksburg on 10 June and died 10 July 1863. His death occurred just a few days after the end of the "Siege of Vicksburg."
