In 1652 he arrived in Acadie. He was recruited from the Seigneury of Aulnay as a colonist.
He settled at Port Royal, now Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, where he is listed in the 1671 and 1678 census.
In the 1686 census his wife Marie is listed as a widow with 5 sons and 5 daughters.

All of the persons with the surname of BREAUX/BRAUD in Louisiana are descendants of fourteen men of that name who came to Louisiana during the period 1762-1785, after the Acadian dispersion, and of a fifteenth who came before 1801 and may well have arived much earlier. All were descendants of Vincent Brault, the progenitor of the name in Acadia. The present article tracks these fifteen men (identified by numbers 1 trhough 15) back to Vincent. Special thanks is givin to Stephen A White, Centre d'Etudes Acadiennes, Universite' de Moncton, for help in identifying some of the persons in this article.
First Generation
Vincent Brault, b. ca 1631, d. 1686, was the progenitor of all the Acadian BRAULTS/BRAUDs/BREAUXs. From his marriage to Marie BOURE (BOURG) he had five sons: Antoine, Pierre, Francois, Jean and Rene'. So far as can be ascertained, no BREAUX-surname descendant of Rene' came to Louisiana during the period in question. However, each of the other four sons became represented in Louisiana, with Antoine's descendants being the most in evidence.
