Individual:
"Eliphalet Day was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts February 11, 1754. His father died when he was nine years of age and he was adopted by his uncle, William Marshall, and brought up in Hampstead, New Hampshire. When 20 years old he came with his uncle, Antipas Marshall, 17 years of age, Isaac Merriam, and two others to Northumberland. He married Thryza, daughter of John French, of Maidstone, Vermont who was born May 15, 1765. Eliphalet Day afterwards came to Stratford and built, first in the northern part of the town on a farm so long known as the 'Nahum Day farm' now owned by Don Stevens. There he built a log house by the road close to the line of the Martin farm. Later he settled on the left hand side of the 'Hogback' since called the 'Judge Day farm.'" quote from the History of Stratford, New Hampshire by J. R.
