Individual:
John French settled in Maidstone, Vermont before 1774 with several other settlers. He received a grant of 100 acres of land and settled on what is now known as the Benton Farm. He was a prominent citizen and a member of the Vigilance Committee in the Revolution. Prior to settling in Maidstone he lived in Walpole, New Hampshire.
