Individual:
They lived in Exeter, NH. The History of the Dudley Family by Dean
Dudley, gives her name incorrectly. It was not Ann Wilson. Theophilus was
listed in the 1732 NH census, as a taxable head of family (p. 41), with 3
taxable heads.
He appears to have married first Rebecca, d. of Francis and Rebecca
(Dudley) Lyford, who died before Dec 1723, and was mother of children
attributed to Sarah Follett (Don Hayward).
Theophilus Hardee was on the list of "the Domings of mens trads and
Incoms for their merchandize and trading in this towne of Exeter this present
year 1731 by us selectmen and assers" (NH State Papers, 11:698).
Theophilus Hardy, Yeoman, and Sarah Hardy, Spinster, both of Exeter, and
Joseph Gilman, Yeoman, and Elizabeth Gilman, Spinster, both of Newmarket in
Exeter sold to Joseph Cartland of Durham, Wheelwright, 25 acres of land in
Durham granted to their uncle Joseph Medor, formerly of Durham, deceased,
March 18, 1737 (NH Records, 33:497-498). Witnessed by Daniel Medor and Hannah
Gilman.
Thus, Theophilus died between 1737 and 1757.
Since widow Sarah Hardy renounced administration on the estate of her son
in 1757, her husband died before 1757.
