Rec 18 Sept 1760 Richard and Kezia moved from Pittsylvania Co., VA about 1764. They moved to Lincoln Co., KY about 1800.
[Notes from Jan Knox 15 June 2001]
When Kezia and Richard first moved from Halifax co VA, it was part of Rowan co NC, but shortly became Surry. Evidently the area they lived in, was right on the border with what became Wilkes co NC as part of the family can be found in Wilkes co re cords. Kezia's brother, Peter, lived in Rockingham co NC. I find it interesting, also, that some of Kezia's Scott-Riggs descendants married into a Glenn family in Boone co MO

My Murphy ancestry begins with Capt. Richard Murphy, born ca 1730 in VA. He married Kesiah Terry Scott (widow of James Scott) ca 1764, probably in Halifax Co, VA. They moved to Surry Co, NC where they remained until moving to Lincoln Co, KY in th e 1790's. Richard and Kesiah had a daughter Mary Murphy, born ca 1771 in Surry Co, NC, who married Aaron Wright in 1792.
