Individual:
Solomon lived in Orange and Chatham Counties, SC and was on Pendleton
District, SC census in 1790 and 1800. He was a veteran of the
American Revolution. He enlisted in the Revolutionary War in NC, 5
Aug 1779 and served the duration of the War. He served in the 10th
Regiment, Blount's Company, under Colonel Abraham Shepherd and
received pay for his service in the Saisburg District. For his
service in the Revolutionary War, Solomon was granted 150 acres
between Washington's and Horner's line on Sinking Creek. After 1800,
he moved to Murphree's Valley in Blount Co., AL, which was settled by
and named for him. He organized Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church
in that area, and was a Baptist minister. Some disagreement among
researchers as to whether there were 2 or 3 wives and which children
belonged to which. In 1850, he was listed in Benton (now Calhoun)
Co., AL, age 92 with S. L. (his youngest son?) age 25, Emily age 20
and Mary, age 85 (wife Mary E. "Polly" Prator?). Sources: Most
