1. Service: He was a Sergeant in Geo Washington's honor guard and was at many battles including Princeton, Brandywine, Camden, Morristown, and waswounded. He wintered at Valley Forge with Washington. He applied for andwas granted a Rev War Pension.
2."West Virgina in the Revolution" pg 169 list Benjamin who enlisted in Berkely County, Virginia in 1777 but was living at that time inMonongalia county. Served until 1780 as private and sergeant undercaptain Lewis and Lieutenant Culk in Continental Establishment in theFirst Virginia Regiment of the line. Fought at Monmoth,Princeton,Germantown, Brandywine, and Fort Miffin. Was wounded in theankle in battle of Princeton, and was carried on Major Flemming's Horseto the hospital in Philadelphia. Pension granted to soldier in NicholasCounty, in 1833. Following the revolution, Benjamin moved to Green brierCounty, eventually ending up in Kanawha county, Now Nicholas County, in1791. He lived on Buck's Garden Creek where he died.
