I have seen an article about a boxer named James J. JEFFERIES. Since William Lawrence "Young" STRIBLING was a boxer, could James Jefferies STRIBLING have been named after another boxer? James JEFFERIES would have been quite a bit older than Young STRIBLING, as he was born about 1875, so probably not.
