The family story is that Edward Taylor was a foundling raised by Edward Taylor who was a tailor by trade. Marriage cert. No. 3352 states: that Edward Taylor and Malvina Mitchell were married on 12th August, 1873 at Sandhurst. He was a bachelor and she a spinster, both born in Adelaide, South Australia. He was a miner, aged 24 and she 17. Both were then living at Huntly, Victoria (a suburb o f Bendigo). His parents were listed as Edward Taylor, a tailor; (Mother's name is unknown). Her parents were William Mitchell, a miner, and Charlotte Knight. Witnesses to the marriage were Charlotte Sedgman by a X (her mark) and Ann Butler. Edward Taylor signed by a x (his mark) also. They were married under the rites of the congregationalists by license. The Minister was Mark Butler. Charlotte Sedgman was the mother of Malvina and a widow, twice married. Edward's death certificate No.6070, states that he died on 23rd June, 1913 at Bell Street, Long Gully, City of Bendigo, County of Bendigo. He was a miner, aged 64 years. He died of Heart disease of two months. Dr. J. McIntyre Eadie last saw him on 14th June, 1913. Details of the names of his parents are all unknown. The informant was Richard Warren, son-in-law, who lived at 1 Casley & Louis Streets, Long Gully. Death wa s registered on 24th June, 1913 at Long Gully. He was buried on 25th June , 1913 at White Hills Cemetery; undertaker was M. Mulqueen. Ceremony was performed by W.J. Palamountain, Methodist Minister. He was born in Adelaide, South Australia and spent three weeks in S.A., 64 years in Victoria. He married at Huntly, Victoria at 24 years to Malvina Mitchel l, and wife living.
