My G-Grandfather OBITUARY: Parkersburg Weekly DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT William Cochran, one of the old residents of the southern portion of Wood county died Tuesda y at his home at Mamganese postoffice after an illness due to a general complication of diseases. The deceased who was 72 years old, came to this county when he was about 30 years old, from Monroe Co. Ohio. He was born in Ireland and came to this country when he was a mere boy. He was a man who was respected by all who knew him and his life was simple in it's characte r, he having devoted all his attention to agricultural pursuits and was quite successful. He is survived by his wife and 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters. His children are as follows; William T. Cochran, Joseph Cochran, J.M. Cochran, Benjamin F . Cochran, Mrs. Martha Swain, Mrs. Lucetta Wigal and Mrs. Theresa Wigal. The first son named William T. Cochran is county superintendant of public schools. The deceased is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The funeral occured at 3 o`clock this afternoon at the Pleasant Home Church near where th e deceased lived and the interment took place at the church cemetary. 1880 Census states that Williams mother and father were born in Ireland. The family was living in Wood Co., WV at the time of the 1880 census.
