Written by Jacob H Baker, ca 1972: "Robert W Baker was kicked by a horse. The animal's foot kicked against his heart and killed him. When he was found he was unconscious and he never regained consciousness. He was buried there on the old home place was still standing in 1997. A picture of it is in the rear of the John Baker Book. As far as we know, this was the first tragic loss of a child by this family. Just a few years later, sons William L and John Wesley lose their lives serving in the CSA during the War between the States. A fourth son, Francis Marion, suffered severe wounds during this conflict, but returned home to marry, rear a large family, and live a long, productive life.
