Hit by automobile driven by Dr. A.M. Wright, local veterinarian. She was crossing the street to
the Wonderland Theater from her son Phillips home at the time. She sustained a fractured
skull and never regained consciusness.
She was the daughter of Judge and Mrs. George Watrous Green.
When her mother Mary Knapp died, she was raised by the Redding family eventually marrying Gilman.The Judges new wife
apparently did not like Emma and she was left out in thecold one night almost freezing. The Reddings who were neighbors,
took her in and she continued living with them eventually marrying Gilman.
After her husband died in 1897 She lived in North Dakota,{possibly with Reverdy} and also in Montana,{possibly with Sybil }.
Her mother died when she was about 2 or 3 yrs old and the family moved to Steele county, Owatonna,
Minn where she apparantly met the Reddings eventually marrying Gilman . Moved to Cottonwood Countyand homesteaded
near String Lake.
Was in Montana in 1915 where she again proved up on a homestead. Returned to Windom around 1919 and moved into a
cottage Phlip had built for her on his property.
On tax roll Jan1, 1880, Springfield Twp, Cotton wood County. Also 1897-1898.

When moving from Wisc to Minnesota, Emma's motherbecame sick and wanted to return to Wisc. They were traveling in a
covered wagon at the time and she died before they could get back. The father married again so there would be someone
to take care of the children. She apparantly didn't care for the first wife's children and allowed Emma's feet to freeze. That is
