The HOWIE Family is from Ayrshire in Scotland. James HOWIE decided to emigrate with his young family to Australia aboard the "Lady McNaughton" in 1847. Unfortunately James died on route leaving his wife with their children Janet and Robert and baby born on the voyage, to settle in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Members of the Howie clan can now be found scattered around Australia and New Zealand.
