8/17/1845 Marriage license has Matilda about 20 and looks like Mrs Matilda
Emerson so at first thought she was a widow. Later census carry out that she
was about 15 when married so Emerson must have been her maiden name.
Other desc. agree with this. Marriage license is located at courthouse in
DeQueen, Sevier County, Ark. States that they were married at Jefferson
Township, Sevier County, Ark. Other sources have Edmondson, but marriage
license looks like Emerson. In 2001, I sent scanned copy to Berthaelen who sent
it to Clayton library personnel. They stated that they believed that the name is
EMERSON.
