Text: [Ives.ged]Married Hannah Foote, born Feb 13, 1684 the daughter of Daniel Foote of Stratford. Richard settled in Stratford after his marriage and his two eldest sons were born there. In 1708-09 he removed to Durham and was one of the original proprieters of that town. He lived there until 1730 and the rest of his children were born at that place. The deeds of record show that he owned more than 100 acres in Durham the most of which was purchased. In the year 1730 he became interested ont he town of Hebron and moved there with his entire family except his eldest son Azariah. He was elected first surveyor of highways and was one of the leading citizens of the town. In 1745 he sold his home lot in Hebron and probably died in Durham.(From BEACH FAMILY MAGAZINE)
Richard was one of the grantees of Durham, CT.
