FUNERAL FOR THE REV. W.P. BARRETT, RETIRED MINISTER, WILL BE FROM M.E. CHURCH, SOUTH
Funeral services for the Rev. William Perry Barrett, 78 years old, who died at 7 o'clock last night at his home, 217 South Osage Street, will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the First M.E. Church, South. The pastor, the Rev. H.J. Rand, will be in charge assisted by Dr. T.B. Mather, the presiding elder. Burial will be in the Brooking Cemetery near Raytown.
The body will be at the church from 1 to 2 o'clock.
The Rev. Mr. Barrett, who served as minister for the M.E. Church, South, forty-nine years, retired from active service four years ago. He was born and reared near Raytown and had spent al of his life in the state where he served various churches. One of his last pastorates was at Grandview, Mo. He served the church at Miami, Mo., for a number of years. Before entering the ministry, the Rev. Mr. Barrett was a teacher at the old Pitcher School near Raytown.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lydia Barrett of the home; a son W.P. Barrett, Jr., 3042 Walrond Avenue; two daughters, Mrs. Given Haney, Miami, and Mrs. Julia Barger, Independence; a brother Stephen M. Barrett, 715 South Park Avenue, supervisor of publications for the Kansas City Board of Education; and a sister, Mrs. Mary DeBord, 114 South Spring Street.
