Individual:
I Marilyn Dooley, never met my Grandfather Duvall, he died 4 years before I was born. Mom always said he was a moonshiner. he used to come drunk and he said one night that the devil was after him up on the ridge. One night he was making moonshine on the stove at home when a knock came at the door. He told Grandma to wait to answer it. He threw his corn mash out the kitchen window. There was a hill right outside the kitchen window and his mash went down the hill. The person at the door was a neighbor but Grandpa thought it was a revuner. Grandma said later that night they heard the chickens making a fuss and they looked out and the chickens were eating the mash and they were drunk and falling down the hill. Granpa was finally working for the state of Kentucky when he died. He fell off the back of a truck that was taking the workers down the rode to the next site. When he fell off a road grater ran over him. There was some controversy as to how he fell off the truck, some said he just fell off, someone else said they thought he had been drinking and fell off, and someone else said they thought he got into an argument with another worker and they pushed him and he fell off. In any event he fell and was killed. Grandpa was buried in the Weddington Cemetery in an unmarked grave . He was buried next to his daughter Viriginia who died as a baby. Wallace Weddington finally made Grandpa a stone marker with his birth and death date on it.
