I was never as close to my Grandma Duvall as I would like to have been. I remember brushing her hair for her and how long it was, she always wore it up on her head. Grandma out lived her husband, one daughter, and both of her sons. She had several strokes as she got older the last one leaving her unable to swallow so they fed her through a tube in her stomach. She had colon cancer which is what killed her so I was told. She lived in a nursing home for about 3 years before she died 1992. She was 95. Her remains were donated to Wright State College . She was cremated and buried in a wall there.
Grandma never talked about her family very much as she always said that was a can of worms better left unopened. Her mother always had to work because her father went to prison for moonshining. I guess Grandma had to go work at an early age and never saw much of her mother after that. Her mother divorced her father and after he got out of prison he remarried.
Mom said that Great-Grandma Crisp came one time when one of the kids was born and that Grandpa's Mother didn't treat her very well so she left and that was the last Granma saw her mother.
I remeber Grandma Duvall Living with us for awhile when we lived in Centerville and Mom said she helped when my Granma Riat was dying. Notes for NORMA ZINDA CRISP:
