Pumyea, Peter 1790-1799 New Jersey (Family Tree CD311) Census Index: U.S. Selected Counties, 1790 (#311 "Peter Pommieeje / Pumyees - was born in either Holland or Somerset County, New Jersey on March 26, 1733. He married circa 1762, Ida, the daughter of Ryck Suydam, who was the son of Hendrick Rychen of Zuidam / Suydam, Holland, the name being changed to that of the home of their ancestors. In the Census of 1765-1772, he is recorded with his wife and children and evidently two slaves Ceasar and Sam (slaves of Pommieeje) and later as having lost "99 pounds 2s 6p from the British, 1776--7." As Peter Pommieeje/Pumyea, he served in the War of the American Revolution as Captain of the 2nd Battalion, Somerset County, New Jersey Militia. Both he and his wife lived and died at Six Mile Run in Somerset County, The Inscription in the Elm Ridge Cemetery being: "Peter Pumyea, Died September 21, 1803, aged 59 Years, 5 Months and 25 Days" and "Ida Pumyea buried November 20, 1824." Peter and Ida Pumyea had many children whose descendants have scattered to all parts of the country.""
