Towses
John LUND (1819-1904), my greatgreatgrandfather, married Mary Ann TOWSE (1817-1894) in Sackville Parish, New Brunswick in 1842. Mary's parents John Towse and Mary (Woodell) and family were, in 1817, early arrivals in a "second wave" from Yorkshire (see notes for the Chignecto Settlers file listed below for more info). The Lunds and Towses were pioneer farmers in the Cookville/Aboujagan Road area outside Sackville: many family members went on to be pioneers again in the west, the Lunds in Manitoba, Towses in Colorado. Other Towses settled in Maine and New England. Sadly, the name has gone from the Sackville "homeland" although descendants still can be found there. Through the dedication of Debra Cohig and others, the family has been traced back to Yorkshire and forward to the present. Our collective data and notes are presented here, your input is welcome.
