William IBBOTSON b. 21 May 1770 in Helmsley married Francis THOMPSON 24 Nov. 1791. Father of William was Henry IBBOTSON b. 1739 married to Mary THOMPSON. William had 11 children with some listed as IBBOTSON and some as IBBITSON.
William and Frances apparently moved from Kilburn to Nunnington between 1805-1807 (Nunnington was the birthplace of John (Ibbitson) Lund, son of Jane Ibbitson).
William gave his children the names of his brothers and sisters (and mother). Wedding record gives occupn as sailor - interesting as Kilburn is not near the sea (l isted later as labourer). Witnesses: William Bean, Mark Fisher. In 1800 he was listed as a militiaman , not un common as the Napoleonic Wars were on.
It seems William and Frances came to Nova Scotia with Jane, John, Will, Henry, Thomas and James between 18 1 9 - 18 2 1 ( after John was born to Jane in Nunnington a n d befor e sh e ma rried George in Sackville) - the 1827 c en sus fo r Linden shows these Ebertsons (sic): a father, w ife , 4 sons and a daughter. Henry had died by 1827.
William was the forefather of all known Ibbitsons li v i n g i n Cumberland County, NS in the 1800s as well as J o h n wh o mo ved to Ontario and all his descendants, plu s a l l the d escen dants of daughter Jane from her sons Ge org e W . (who h ad 1 8 children by 3 wives in Machias, Mai ne) , Joh n Lund (w ho ha d 11 children) and her 2 daughter s Fa nny an d Ann (wh o had a t least one son) !

This John TRUEMAN Jr.(b. 1753) was cousin to William TR UE MAN and his wife Ann THOMPSON who emigrated with their s o n William from Hawnby to Fort Cumberland, Nova Scotia abo ar d the Albion out of Hull in March 1774. Eleanor BARR wa s ch ristened 1 Jan 1758 in Bilsdale Midcable, Yorkshire an d sh e died in 1836.
