Title: Notes
Text: Granddaugher-in-law France Normandy Neitzke writes:
"My mother-in-law Gertrude Behm Neitzke* told me
that Grandpa Neitzke
(Daniel Friedrich Robert) had studied to be a priest in Berlin. His mother was
dying of Tuberculosis and he tried to strike a bargain with God. When she died
anyway, he quit the seminary and became and agnostic. He wouldn't allow any
of his children to attend church! Not while they lived in his house!!
He also had a picture of the Kaiser displayed in his front window during World
War I. It's a wonder he wasn't deported!" (must have been in Des Plaines, IL)
*Gertrude Neitzke was married to Robert Moehring Neitzke, 6th child of Daniel
Friedrich Robert Neitzke and Emma Therese Charlotte Moehring)
