14JUN1785 - paid for service in Militia
13JUN1786 - fined for bastardy with Ann McClure (from court records)
1790 - Ann McClure and son (her ancestor Stephen) living alone.
1790 - Alexander Adair, 1 male>16, 1 male <16, 4 females.
1791 - John and Jean Adair sold land to Ann McClure.
1796 - John and Jean Adair sold land to Francis Braddock who had already married Ann McClure.
1796 - Alexander Adair sells land to Benjamin Wilson
1800 - Alexander looks to be widowed: 1 male >45, 3 males <10, 1 female 10-16, 1 female 16-26.
Alexander shows up in court and land records in various ways throughout these years. She says she believes this is the Alexander and Mollie Adair in Misc. Adair Families found in GA, MS, AL, p132 of Shirley Brown Adair's book, "Robert Adair, 1770-1845".
She lists the descendants of Alexander as listed in this book. Then she goes on to say that Alexander was listed in the appendix to the Janie Revill book on immigrants attesting in a petition to Col. James Williams character, whom he served under. Col. Williams fought at the battle of Musgrove Mill (in Laurens Co.), and was killed at Kings Mountain. The original petition is in the archives at Duke University. Browning also shows a land grant of 234 acres in 1784 on the south fork of Duncan Creek, either a delay of entry of the grant upon arrival in SC or was for war service. No apparent relation to the other Adair's, but could have been a late arriving cousin or brother.
She says the relationship just has to be there between Alexander and the earlier Laurens Co. Adair's but they came over well before Alexander was born.
From Pam Adair Dean: In the South Carolina Gazette, No 1654, May 11-June 1, 1767 Fridlay, the
15th instant arrived here, in the Ship Prince of Wales, Capt. James Egger,
from Belfast, upwards of 200 passengers from the north of Ireland; for the
conveying of whom to the Irish settlement near Long Canes, the hon. commons
house of assembly of this province, last Thursday, voted the sum of one
thousand pounds currency, and ordered twenty shillings sterling bounty each,
to be paid into their hands.
This was dated May 30, the ship came in May 15th. It is the only one out of
about 25 ships from Belfast, Ireland. They did not have passenger list so
that's where I'll look next to confirm it. Feel free to look also.

Green Adair (A Meth. Ministrr) and a great-grandson of Alexander had a
record of the Alexander descendants and a
record of his arival to SC. That info follows,
"Alax" and a sister (?) was orphans, raised by an uncle (John Adair) in
Belfast Ireland.
He and his wife (Mary Ann "molly" Steel) and a daughter Jean and his sister,
Migrated to America in 1767 and settled in, Jax Township, now Laurens Co.
SC.
