Individual:
David Garvin came to America with his brother Thomas in 1735. It is not known where he settled.
Could this be the same David later found in Augusta County, VA?
Mary K. Barnard writes: A tradition in our Garvin family is that we are descended from David Garvin who came to America from Northern Ireland with two brothers. (I know traditions aren t reliable but I m using every clue.)
David Garvin was married twice in Rockingham County, Virginia and died there. If he is the one who was in Augusta County, VA in 1774, he may have been in Rockingham County after it was formed in 1778 from Augusta County. If this man was the father of Isaac Garvin, he moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia.
Mary Barnard writes further about David: He was living in Augusta County, VA in 1774 on a plantation owned by Archibald Huston (information from the will of Archibald Huston dated 28 March 1774). He (David) died 23 Dec. 1795. His estate was settled in RockinghamCounty, VA 28 Dec. 1795. Samuel Garvin was administrator and John Huston was bondsman. Wife Sarah.
Two marriages (of David) arerecorded in Rockingham County, VA: David Garvin - Ann Cloverfield (widow), 17 Sept. 1782; David Garvin - Sarah Bush (widow), 26 Nov. 1786. (There was probably an earlier marriage). Is this the father of Isaac?
