From My Clan : The Macdougalls were never to regain their island possessions, but to a large degree their fortunes were restored when Euan (John) Macdougall married a granddaughter of Robert the Bruce. Most of the mainland estates were re-granted by a royal charter of David II.

Peter Barns-Graham shows John to be the same as Ewen, son of John the Lame.
