Ancestors and descendants of David Franklin Painter, Civil War veteran of Indiana and Kansas. His descendants include Adams, Hall and Herr. The ancestry of David's parents is currently under investigation: Samuel Painter was born in Virginia in 1803--possibly Shenandoah, Botetourt, Hampshire or Rockingham. Katherine Franks was born in Pennsylvania about 1805-1807 and is believed the daughter of David Frank and Marie Louisa Hornette of Upper Paxton, Dauphin Co., PA. This is based on indirect evidence gleaned from probate and marriage records of Pike County, IN and Montgomery Co. OH.Brief ancestry of David's wife, Cynthia Morton, is included--while further research on her grandparents, Joseph Morton and Jemima Harrel, of KY, NC/VA continues.
