Notes
Individual:
From the research of Robert Gerrity:

GUILFORD4 PAIN (Simmons3, Joseph2, Ralph1) married in Freetown on 21June 1798 SARAH (CUMMING S) HATHAWAY of Middleboro, Mass. If he was atleast 25 years old at marriage, he would have been born in 1773 orbefore. He may have been deceased as early as 1810 as he is not listed inthe U.S. Census for Massachusetts. He was certainly deceased by early1816 when Sarah married for the third time Israel Hoyt. Sarah's firstmarriage, to Dudley Hathaway of Taunton on 14 September 1795, apparentlyended in divorce sometime before 1798.

Guilford was called "Gilford Pain" in the 1800 Census. He resided inFreetown next to Joseph , and one household over from Ichabod. Thehousehold consisted of one male aged 26 to 45, one female aged 26-45 andone female child under 10, perhaps his and Sarah's daughter. It isquite possible this child was Sarah's youngest by Dudley Hathaway. Hiswill of 2 May 1804 contained provision for "the three older children" ofSarah Payne "of Rochester." This clearly implies that Guilford and Sarahhad children of their own. However, no births are recorded for them ineither Freetown nor in Rochester.

Children (Paine)
i. dau. b. about 1798-1800.
