Ellen's mother died a few months after childbirth. Ellen was given to her Grandparents, Selma & Bernhardt Joseph Gunther, to be raised. She had no brother's or sisters. Ellen said her family was of Jewish descent.
Married by Reverend J. Herbert Weaver of the Huntington Park Lutheran Church. Was a member of the Order of DeMolay. She served in several offices in the local Order of Job's Daughter's Bethel No. 44.They had a total of 11 children. The first 4 children were given up for adoption. Junie Myrtle was adopted by the Sisney family. Her name was changed to Toni June. George Arthur Jr I was adopted by the Chamberlain family. His name was changed to Leroy Chamberlain. The Sisney family wife & the Chamberlain family wife were cousins. Junie/Toni and George/Leroy were raised as first cousins. The other 2 children (as of 1997) have not been found. Their names at birth were Joseph Bernard Buchholz and Michael Buchholz. Michael had a deformed arm. Joseph & Michael were supposed to have been adopted by a family in Long Beach, California.
George Buchholz Sr left Ellen when their youngest child James (Jimmy) was only 6 years old. He moved down the street with another woman and her 2 children. He then raised those 2 children as his own & had nothing more to do with his own children.
