675. Dea. Asaph ALLEN was born on October 22, 1752 in Deerfield, Franklin, Massachusetts. Born at the Fort at Deerfield, Mass. He died on March 19, 1841 in Waterbury, Washington, Vermont.3916 History of the Town of Bernardston, Franklin County, Massachusetts. 1736 - 1900. by Lucy Cutler Kellogg. Greenfield, Mass, Press of E. Mr Allen served in the Revolution, going out as corporal in Capt. A. Wells' Co. Vol. saml. William's reg., which marched Apr. 20, 1775; service 10 days, and again as first corporal May 1, 1775, in Capt. Agrippa Wells' Co., Col. Whitcomb's regiment; was discharged Sept. 23, 1775; the latter part of his life he drew a pension. Served 1786 and 1794 as selectman and town treasurer. In Feb., 1796, he removed to Waterbury, Vt., where he died Mch. 19, 1841. He was a man much respected, and for many years officiated as deacon in the church, being first appointed to that office in Bern. when 19 years old.
He was married to Persis SHELDON (daughter of Remembrance SHELDON and Mehitalbe BURKE) in 1773.3917 Persis SHELDON was born in 1757 in Bernardston, Franklin, Massachusetts.3918 She was baptized on October 16, 1757.3919 She died on February 13, 1852.3920 Dea.
