In Rhode Island ca1782, Wm. Tanner of London, England, was the progenitor of over 30,000 descendants. This data is mainly of his Canadian families. Great-grandson Amos Martin, Sr., aka Amos Tanner, of Rhode Island, went to Upper Canada in 1784 with the United Empire Loyalists, settling with his wife Susannah Ball and their family, in Ernestown Township, near Bath, Ontario.
