Notes 
Individual:
William H. Rider held the following official positions in the Town of Cornwall: 1842 - Town Sealer of Weights and Measures, 1843 and 1844 same position; 1845-1848 Town Clerk; 1855 Inspector of Elections. He is also noted in the records of the Society of Friends from 1837 to 1850. At the meeting of December 27, 1849 it was reported that "William H. Rider has so far devicted from the good orde of the Society as to refuse to settle and pay his debts. Also he has cut down timber on the property belonging to that meeting (Cornwall) and taken the same away without liberty". The Orange County Court House in Goshen has a deed, dated August 1, 1866, for land in Newburgh purchased by William H. Rider; Liber-196, pg. 241.
