Andrew
(father) farm. Chester was a farmer in 1880 according to census. He located
in Delhi and entered into the store business conducted by father. After
father's demise, Chester took over business until 1897 when it was destroyed by
fire. He then was chosen as a justice of the peace filling in this capacity
until his death.
Chester was a republican.
Mary, his wife, was a Methodist. Chester never joined the church. He gained
and maintained a reputation as one of Delhi's esteemed, substantial and
respected citizens. He and his wife were widely and favorably known, with
"circle of friends being almost coextensive with her circle of acquaintences.
May have been a Private in 189th Regiment of the NYS Volunteers, Company I (was
raised principally in Allegany County) From: The History of the 189th Regiment
