Jonesboro Herald and Tribune, Wednesday, April 30, 1902:
Transcription of original newspaper clipping of his obituary:
SUDDEN DEATHS
Last week three sudden deaths occurred in this county. The first was that of Miss Sue Deakins at her home three miles north of town, fromparalysis. She had been quite feeble for some years, but was notapparently in danger until within a few hours of her death, which tookplace last Wednesday evening. Miss Deakins was a woman of more thanaverage intelligence, was a close observer of things and had decidedviews on public matters, which she frequently expressed through thecolumns of this paper. Her friends, and they are many, regret her death, and will miss her greatly. To all who mourn for her the Herald andTribune extends heartfelt sympathy in this hour of their bereavement.
On the afternoon of the 23d two other sudden deaths occurred on the Fall Branch road, some nine or ten miles west of this place. The first wasSamuel K. Tadlock, about seventy years of age. Mr. Tadlock had been inpoor health for a long time, but died rather suddenly. Shortly after hisdeath Mrs. Mary Good, his sister, called at the house and went into theroom where the body lay and took her last look at the face of herbrother, left the room and walked out into the yard and fell dead. Hergrief was too acute and induced heart failure, it is thought.
The death of these people in so unexpected a manner has produced a realization of the uncertainty of life and the absolute certainty ofdeath, which comes at such time as no one may know, and selects hisvictims with unrelenting hand.
