He was the son of GilesJackson, a member of the first congress and one of the committeeon the articles of capitulation made between the British andAmericans at the surrender of Burgoyne.Bro. Jackson came at an early date to Whitestown, where in duetime he became a member of Amicalbe Lodge. Later he removed toManlius. The same year he was commissioned an officerparticipating in the War of 1812, in the official capacity ofcommissary; then located at Fort Stanwix, now Rome, NY, where hecontinued to remain in the merchantile trade for some time. Heremoved from thence to Camillus, NY, where he was engaged in thecompletion of contract work on the canal. Later he returned toManlius, where he purchased the farm later occupied by HoraceWheeler, near the toll gate. About the year 1821, he sold the farm to his brother, Doctor(James) Jackson, and removed to New York City. In his decliningyears he moved to Oswego, where he died on 10 Jun 1855, aged 81years.His wife's name is given as Abigail West on one website.ref: Charles A.
