  1. Francis was either born out of wedlock or Lucinda took him, raised him as her own and gave him her last name. In the 1860 Census of Craig County, Lucinda is living with her mother and an 8 year old c hild, Frank M. Brough. Frank is listed under LDS as the son of Edward & Nancy Brugh, who lived next door. In the 1870 Census, Francis M. Brugh, age 18, was living with Lucinda and her mother. When Francis married, Lucinda was listed as the parent on his marriage license. In the records book of Marriages in Craig County, Va., it states "Father Unknown".

    I cannot find a Francis M. Dudding in any documents until the 1870 Census.

    Lucinda married at the age of 42 years old to William Jones. On her marriage license, it states she was single, not widowed or divorced. This child, Frank/Francis, would have been born in 1852; where as Francis Dudding was born in 1851 according to his tombstone. Francis and Lucinda are buried next to each other and "Mother" is at the top of her tombstone.
