Text: Balthasar arrived at Philadelphia Pennsylvania on theship"Patience" from Rotte rdam on August 11, 1750 In the nameof God Amen. I, Balthasar Fetterman of thetownshipLaugenschwan, Berks County and State ofPensilvanie[sic], am nowby age weakly, but of soundunderstanding by the blessing ofGod, to this day which is thesixth day in the month of August,in the year of our Lord onethousand s even hundred and ninetysix, make and publish this tobe my last will and testam ent inthe following manner: First, Irecommend my soul in the handsof the Almi ghty God, who hasgiven it to me, and that my bodyshall be buried in a Christia nmanner at the direction of myhereafter named executors, andconcerning my wor ldly estate withwhich it has pleased the Lordto bless me in this world, Ibeque ath it in the following mannerto wit: I bequeath to mybeloved wife Catharine M argrethe, mybed and bedstead, her chestand what is in it, all the clothes,the clock, the stove, onecow and, in general shall my belovedwife Catharine Margr ethe,take of my movable goods so much as isnecessary for her to liveby, and it is my will and I do orderthat my wife, CatharineMargrethe, shall keep herself all thecorn, flour, meat and allwhat is necessary to live by and,further I b equeath to mybeloved wife, Catharine Margrethe, thesum of eighty pound ingold or silver species, according to alegacy of her father,George Heiszt which came to my the abovementioned BalthasarFetterman's hands by a piece of land from m ybefore-namedfather-in-law, George Heiszt, and, further, is it mywill and doI order that my, in this mentioned, executor shallgive to mybeloved wife Cathar ine Margrethe, besides the abovementionedeighty pounds, the sum of one hundred and fifty poundin specieslawful money of Pennsilvanie, and though of the firs tmoneywhich of my estate shall come to the hands of myhereafter-namedexecutor s, which money my wife, CatharineMargrethe, shall haveto her own use and profi t to live by, and,it is further my willthat after my beloved wife Catharine Margrethe, had taken herpart or so much as is necessary to her ofmy moveable goo ds, myexecutors shall have a right to sell onpublic vendue [sic] tothe highest bidder all my moveable andimmoveable estate in amanner as they think the most profitable,and, after the estateis sold, then my executors shall pay to mybe loved wife,Catharine Margrethe, of the first money whichcomes to theirhands, t he before mentioned sums, before any ofmy children canreceive a portion, and, further it is my willand do I order bythis, that after the above-mentioned pay mentsto my wife,Catharine Margrethe, is abated the remainder shall bediviedam ongst my children in equal shares, to wit: theImmovableestate which I now poss ess and the moveable goodsafter wife,Catharine Margrethe, has taken her part, andconcerning the twohundred pound which my son PhilipFetterman,shall pay to me inhand and whereof part is payed fora piece of land from myfather-in-law, G eorge Heiszt, thereofshall be paid theabove-mentioned eighty pound to my wife,Catharine Margrethe,and the remaining one hundred and twentypound shall be de videdin equal shares amongst the childrenwhich I have by my wife,Catharine Mar grethe, under thisreservation according her ageand so as the money comes in an dmy hereafter mentionedexecutors think right.
