- From genealogical study (1998) by Martine Duhamel: Acte de naissance date is “treize Venose l'an cinq de la République française.” Father, Jean Grasset Latour was captain in army, age 35. Mother: Mari
e Bertrand. The two witnesses were Thomas Balvet, tonnelier, 35 and Marie Généreuse Boizard, 23.
Acte de mariage states she was a couturière (seamstress), age 38, living with her mother. She married Élie Giron a tailor and widower, age 38, with three children. Giron’s mother was Anne Bertrand. [P ossibly a relation to Marie Bertrand?] Duhamel notes that Marie Bertrand didn’t know how to sign her name on the register. This marriage record gave Duhamel both the birth date and place of Marie Généreuse and the death date and place of her father.
The marriage record list the estate items brought to the marriage by the husband as well as the dowry.
Marie Généreuse died less than a year after her marrige after childbirth. Her son Pierre Giron died nine days after his mother.
