Individual:
Joe moved with his parents to Indian Territory. Now Oklahoma, near
what is now Elk city, Ok. From there to Marietta that is now in Love
County, Ok., where his father operated a cotton gin. They moved there
to southern Muskogee County, Ok., near the town of Oktaha where they
farmed. He married Nancy in Eufaula, Ok., and returned to Marietta.
There first child was born there. They moved from there to Muskogee, Ok.
A couple of years later he went to work in the Boynton, OK., oil field where
he worked for a time at the Curtis gasoline plant. Then to a lease half way
between Council Hill and Wainwright where he became a Pumper. Moved
from there to near Mounds, Ok., on another oil lease. When the lease was
abandoned in the late 1930's he moved to near Beggs where he worked
with the local funeral home. Moved to Tulsa, Ok., and worked at the Douglas
Aircraft plant during WWII. Managed the Plaza Court Apartments for a while
then operated a Glencliff Dairy Store until he retired. A good man, a Baptist,
a Free Mason and well liked by all who knew him.
