Individual:
He farmed in Missouri and in about 1883, moved to Bentonville,
Arkansas, where he was at first a lamplighter and then the city
Marshall. Sometime in the early 1890's moved to the Indian
territory near what is now Elk City, Oklahoma. Didn't stay there long
and moved to Marietta, Indian Territory, which is now Love County,
Oklahoma, where he operated a cotton gin. He moved from there to
Muskogee County, Oklahoma, near the town of Oktaha and farmed a
farm referred to as the Elam place. In his later years he moved into
Muskogee where at one time he was the Muskogee County Weigher
and later worked as a night watchman for the Katy railroad. One night
he leaned his old cane bottom chair back against the wall of the station
house. His gun fell out of it's holster and shot him in the butt. Not
serious but most embarrassing. A Baptist. A Free Mason, a loud and
outspoken man who was said to have been a Grand Dragon in the
Klu Klux Klan. Died in Tulsa, Oklahoma and buried in Greenhill
Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
