Polly was the daughter of Phillip Hamman (called "the Savior ofGreenbriar, West Virginia" during the American Revolution) andChristina Cook (a relation of James Cook, the explorer).
After the death of her husband in 1857, Polly is listed on the1860 Breathitt Co. KY Census record with her son, WilliamJackson Cope and family, and on the 1870 Breathitt Co KY Censusrecord with her son Alfred E. Cope and family.
