Death of F.O. Davis
F.O. Davis died Saturday, Jan 9, 1903 at his home in the west part of town at the age of 47 years, 11 months and 8 days. He had suffered with kidney trouble for several weeks, which was the immediate cause of his death.
Frank O. Davis was born January 26, 1855. Being left an orphan he was adopted by John and Sarah Davis, of Licking county, Ohio, when about two years of age. Here he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Mary Ireland in 1873. She died in 1876, leaving one son, who was at his father's bedside during his last illness. Mr. Davis came to Illinois in 1878. His second marriage occurred a year later, with Miss Rachel J. Dixon, who with eight children, five girls and three boys, are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband adn loving father. Mr. Davis had resided in this city about seven years. He was an upright citizen and held the respect and confidence of the entire community. For several years he had been a member of the Christian Church. No funeral services were held owing to the residence being under quarantine. Interment was at the Lovington cemetery Sunday afternoon.
