Francis Corley, Sr. has been placed as the son John Corley primarily because he seems never to have been connected with the sons of Richard; he is the correct age, and because he cannot be placed with any
other family of this name in Virginia at this period. If this be true, he seems to have been the first of the Corley family to have left Hanover Co., Virginia; and the date of his Land Patent in Goochland County, 28 Sep 1730, is only seven years from the time that John disappears from the records of St. Paul's Parish, in Virginia.
Francis Corley, Sr. made his "Will" on 19 Dec 1775; and it was 'proved' on 16 Sep 1776. Elizabeth probably predeceased him; as she is not mentioned in his 'Will'.
