According to the Delphos Centenial Book of 1978, Casper Mesker was o
ne of the
original settlers in Delphos. Leaving Germany in Sept of 18xx arriving in
New York in Nov?? then taking lake vessels to Cleveland then Toledo and
a riverboat down the Maumee River to Napoleon OH. Their boat became froz
en in
the river at Napoleon. They then travelled by wagon to Fort Jennings OH
where a winter storm stopped them. Fort Jennings settlers took them in unt
il
spring when they continued their journey to Delphos.
